KTDA Leads in Afforestation to Conserve the Environment

KTDA Foundation in partnership with Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency and Kiru Tea Factory farmers yesterday planted 1000 trees along Mathioya river in Muranga country .
Board Member Zone 2 Chege Kirundi urged the farmers to plant trees during this rainy season ,conserve environment and rehabilitate rivers adding that rain is very crucial in diversification and improvement weather for tea growth and due to climate .
The campaign labelled as ‘JAZA MITI ‘za Miti is a campaign by Kenya Export Promotion Branding Agency for national tree growing and restoration campaign to plant trees with a mission of planting 1 billion trees .
The farmers who attended the tree planting event received two Hass Avocado seedlings to plant at their farms , they will also be helping the factory to monitor and conserving the growth of the trees.
Tree Planting is a high priority Government-driven initiative to conserve natural resources as well as to increase forest cover to 10% by 2030 (according to the Kenya Vision 2030) and sustainably manage natural forest resources for environmental protection and enhanced economic growth.
