Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Zachariah Njeru has called on the private developers to continue partnering with the Government in the Affordable Housing Programme.

CS Njeru was speaking this evening when he officially opened The Seven Heights Apartments in Milimani, Nakuru. The CS said that there is a need for investors to take advantage of the incentives given by the Government in the affordable housing Programme.

Njeru said the Kenya Kwanza Government’s programme to build 200,000 affordable houses annually is progressing at a steady pace and so far 42 Counties have provided land for the projects.

Furthermore, the CS said the Government through his Ministry is also rolling out the plan to build at least 200 affordable housing units in every Constituency.

“We are proud of the many Kenyan investors who have partnered with us in building affordable houses. There is space for many more investors especially the local real estate developers because the investment opportunities in the AHP are massive,” said Njeru.

He noted that the government incentives include streamlined approval processes, reduced taxes and levies, access to financing options, and the provision of infrastructure and services in designated housing zones.

He encouraged Nakuru residents who own land to make sure they obtain title deeds adding that the processing of the documents is being done at a faster pace now.
