Tobacco control stakeholders call for Kenya to curb tobacco farming

Tobacco control stakeholders have called for Kenya to be responsible and curb tobacco farming and eventually tame down tobacco use. In a press briefing stakeholders led by Samuel Ochieng disapproved utterances by Trade CS Moses Kuria who on Wednesday claimed that Tobacco industry contributes more than one percent of our GDP. They also termed tobacco as a great contributor to public health crisis and urged for the full implementation of the tobacco control act.
“The tobacco industry only cares about its profit margins and capturing new markets consequently increasing its market base. The health of Kenyans is not their concern.”
