Hon Waqo Keen On Youth Empowerment

Marsabit County Woman Representative Naomi Waqo (Canon)

Marsabit County is blessed to have Canon Naomi Waqo as the Woman Representative.

She is kind considerate and results oriented.

“I’m embarking on an ambitious and transformative mission for our beloved county.

We are on the verge of establishing Marsabit’s very first sports academy. This endeavor is aimed at providing our young and talented sports enthusiasts with the perfect platform to nurture their abilities and pursue a professional career in the rapidly expanding world of competitive sports.

Just recently, I had the privilege of speaking at Holale Primary School in Moyale, where I shared my vision for this sports academy. It’s not just about creating an institution; it’s about opening doors of opportunity for our aspiring athletes to turn their dreams into promising careers.

This sports academy won’t just be a facility; it will be a cornerstone in the development of our sports infrastructure. It will provide specialized training, expert coaching, and world-class facilities to help our players enhance their abilities and compete at the highest level. We are going to cover a wide range of sports, including football, volleyball, athletics, and basketball, ensuring comprehensive training for our athletes.

Moreover, this academy won’t be limited to nurturing talent; it will serve as a hub for organizing sports tournaments and events that will attract players from across the nation, ultimately boosting the sports scene in our county.

Youth empowerment through talent development is a core aspect of my manifesto. With the right resources and training, we can produce the best sportsmen and women, and I am committed to making that happen.

I’ve been in discussions with the Sports Fund and the Kenya Academy of Sports to ensure that our partnership is strong, supporting our efforts to develop quality sports infrastructure and mold our youth into globally competitive sportspeople.

We all know the challenges our youth face, especially with the prevalence of alcohol and drug-related issues in some parts of our county. Through sports, we can provide them with a positive and constructive path to channel their energy and ambition.

I’m calling on leaders, individuals, and corporate bodies to support our efforts in the sports sector. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of our youth and contribute to the overall well-being and development of Marsabit County.

In addition, I urge education stakeholders to closely monitor the growth and development of our children from the moment they enroll in school. By doing so, we can ensure that they reach their full potential, both academically and athletically.

I’m grateful for the support I’ve received from various quarters, and I’m pleased to share that the Sports Fund and the Kenya Academy of Sports are fully behind this initiative.

This is a journey that I am passionate about, and I’m willing to take it with all of you. Together, we can empower our youth, transform lives, and make Marsabit a shining star in the world of sports. Let’s work hand in hand to make this vision a reality. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved.”
